Project Background

At Vizient, our design system lacked accessibility standards and visual consistency across platforms—especially in Power BI dashboards. Components looks different between products, and many didn’t meet WCAG guidelines. This caused friction for both our users and internal teams, who often had to reinvent or adjust components on their own.

Our team’s goal was to build a modern, scalable design system for all Vizient products.

  • The focus was on accessibility, consistency, and usability across platforms.

  • I contributed to the new color palette, redesigned core components, and helped create supporting documentation.

  • I also led the Power BI integration, adapting design standards to fit its constraints.

  • The updated system helped teams work faster and improved visual consistency company-wide.

Goal

  1. Collaborated with the UX team to redesign the Vizient Design System.

  2. Contributed to the updated color palette, and redesigned core components like buttons and headers.

  3. Helped establish consistent rules for typography, spacing, and interaction patterns.

  4. After the foundation was set, led the Power BI integration of the design system.

  5. Created accessible JSON themes, reusable dashboard templates, and aligned components with Figma standards.

  6. Partnered with the Data Visualization Team to ensure accessibility.

  7. Led workshops to onboard teams and support system adoption.

How we get there?
